One octave and a half Cristal – 1965

This is one of the first generations of Cristals.

The keyboard is made of glass rods which play the part of a bow.  When they are stroked with damp fingers, they transmit the vibration to the metal axes which vibratory mode is given by the weights fixed to the upper end.

The lower part is set into a collector which direct the vibration to the metal sheet, playing the role of an amplifier.

The Cristals are undoubtedly the most well known instruments created by the BASCHET brothers, the are regularly played in concerts and have been recorded very frequently (radio, television, records). (dim. 100 x 80 x 150)
Private collection BASCHET brothers.
